We ride the southern portion of the ATT for our 2nd ride

Our 2nd Weehoo bike ride took us from my work to the ATT. It was just me (Danielle) and Eliza. Rob was busy working, so he couldn't join in on the fun. Rob taught me how to attach the Weehoo to my bike and how to break it down to make it fit in our trunk. It was all surprisingly easy to do!

The American Tobacco Trail is such a nice trail. It's even nicer having it in the backyard of where I work! The trail is mostly flat but has little small climbs that don't really feel like climbs, but when you turn around and head back on your return trip, that small climb is a slight downhill, and it's so fun! Especially with a Weehoo behind you, we feel like we're flying!

Here's our Strava summary of the ride:

You know what would be nice? If someone opened up a little cafe right off the ATT in sold snacks, gatorade, maybe a few sandwiches, or local ice cream. I'm talking about the most southern part of the ATT, where it's nothing but old country farm roads all around and the only options for food and drink are gas station mini marts.

We ended up getting off the ATT at Wemberly Road and taking that to Jenks Rd, and right at the intersection with Hwy 64, there's a Citgo gas station and mini mart. We were starving! (on a side note, I should have been more prepared for this hunger pang for us both - next time, I'll pack some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and some Teddy Grahams!) We grabbed a junk food snack and a gatorade for each of us. We ate outside of the mini mart and watched people come and go. I was pretty sweaty, but the sun was warm enough to stop the chill from the slight spring breeze. Eliza seemed to be enjoying the ride, but I sensed that she was a little scared of the slight swaying back and forth that happens when I stand up and pedal. Note to self: Try to keep the bike more upright and handlebars flat when pedaling standing up. (It's not easy!)

Here's a picture of us at the end of our ride.

We stopped just a little short of our starting point because I was just too tired to face that big climb out of the ATT on Pittard Sears Road. I called Rob, who was nearby thankfully, and he picked us up! Yay!

Despite being super tired from being kinda out of shape, I'm ready for more adventures! Our Weehoo is so much fun!

Our first bike ride with the Weehoo

Our first adventure with the Weehoo was a success. Rob pulled Eliza behind his bike, and I rode alongside. We rode from my work and hoped to be able to explore some or all of the RTP mountain bike trails. Unfortunately, with the heavy rains we'd had all week, the trails were too muddy to responsibly ride on.

We use the Strava app to track our rides. Here's our Strava summary of this ride:

We rode to Two Guys Grille, where we stopped to have lunch. I really enjoyed my meal here. Super delicious! We sat on the patio and played some cornhole while waiting for our food. Here's a couple of pictures at Two Guys Grille in Morrisville.

It was a good ride and I look forward to many more in the future!

A new bike riding adventure begins

We just received our WeeHoo! We are so excited. Here is a picture I took after Rob had finished putting it together, which only took about 20 minutes. Eliza was so excited to sit on it for the first time. She immediately started pedaling backwards!

A Weehoo bike trailer is perfect for kids aged 2-8, although I've seen some videos posted on YouTube before with kids who were younger than 2 enjoying it.

I can't wait to get out there soon and try it out!
